We've run down the top 10 Windows 7 features and the best new features in the RC , but after using Windows 7 exclusively for a week straight, the real goods are in the small stuff. While you've no doubt seen a few of these features mentioned before, most of the items below have received the least attention from Windows 7 previews. Windows 7 's Release Candidate is free and available for download , but what's all that different from the beta version? Quite a bit, it turns out, and we've got the screenshots to prove it. Note: We apologize for all the other-page links leading off this page, but the robots that power Lifehacker's image galleries are rebelling against the idea of multiple galleries on one page at the moment...

Microsoft's manufacturing Partners already have it, but the downloading masses will get a crack at the Windows 7 Release Candidate on May 5 . Yet another small but fantastic difference in Windows 7 is that users can finally swap out that drab background used for logon. The customization still hasn't been designed for the mainstream consumer—probably intended for OEMs like Dell, you'll need to poke around a bit with regedit to change the background screen (full tutorial here ).
