It seemed like only last week that Kevin “Motorbot” Olson was teasing/tweeting about the best way to make fake sesame seeds. The artist, who has been turning Labbits into turkeys and Dunnys into Peeps for some time, brings his hunger-inspiring art toys to Sacramento’s Dragatomi for a solo show this weekend. The show will include fourteen 5-inch Labbits, one 10-incher and 18 littles custom...
Lego biped robots are a dime a dozen, even while some look pretty sweet . This one is special: It's the first walking Lego robot. And, unlike your usual feet-dragging toy robots, it actually walks by raising its feet .
This is definitely not easy to do with Lego or any other material. Maybe this guy should start thinking about building a Big Dog . [ Flickr via Brothers Brick ]
Thanks to Christine from LAMADesigns , I know about the Humunga Stache Dog Toy . On one side, it’s a fun black ball for your dog to play with while on the flip side is a gigundus moustache (yes, gigundus). For $15, this would crack me up at least once a day — totally worth it.

I’ve seen a bit of geeky jewelery before, but I think this is the first time I have ever seen a toy grabber anything. UFO catcher machines are a huge part of the gaming culture in Japan, and they have some of the cutest toys and figures. Some of which you can’t find in stores.
The point is, I wish there were some of those machines over here in NY .
You can find these toy catcher necklaces a...

"Strawberry Shortcake's the humorless leader of the Rebellion against Brainy Smurf. Never far from her is Kit, a strange, cat-like child found near her dead twin brother after the war. She's emotionless and mute, but follows Shortcake everywhere she goes." Tom Kyzivat, aka Murderous Automaton , tells the tall of a post-apocalyptic battle of '80s toys against Brainy Smurf, who "overthrew Papa Smu...

Strawberry Shortcake and a mute WilyKit prepare their 80s-toy troops for the battle against Brainy Smurf, aka The Brain. Check out the brilliant story behind Tom Kyzivat's twisted art, and see if you can name each "after the fall" toy.
Tom Kyzivat's page over at Deviant Art, under the pen name Murderous Automaton , has a whole collection of 80s toys gone rogue, after a war has pitted half ...
I've played with my fair share of LEGOs, but I never actually envied the little guys until I saw Dave DeGobbi's Crawler Town, a work as impressively conceived as it is constructed. I'd forfeit bendable elbows to live in it.
It sort of reminds me of those old books on a single building—Castles or Pyramids or what have you—where you could look at the huge, detailed illustrations and imagine doze...

“This is a foradacaixa® hand crank music box. As you can see in the pictures, the mechanism has an original package made exclusively for it. Every tune is available at the product page but at least two of them can also be heard here and here .
The illustration and graphic design of the package was made by Maria Helena of the 2.2 design...
I saw ScribbleBots , a design concept project from MA student Jon Cumberpatch , quite a while ago but its been sat at the back of my mind for a while as I’m sat on the fence about it, slightly leaning in one direction. I wanted to post it as I’ll be writing a whole series on drawing over the coming months.
“The aim of the Project was to encourage more adults to draw”. Watch the video ...

Say the word "toy" to a techie, and his mind will think one thing: robots. But all infrared-loving, artificially-intelligent smart-toy-ogling tech-savvy aside, new toys can instill as much "ooh! shiny!" as even the hottest cellphone. And we're not just talking about robots: This week, the International Toy Fair hit NYC, and PopSci.com found 20 funk...
