Filed under: Text , Utilities , Google , Mobile In a huge leap forward for Google Docs, your docs are now viewable in mobile browsers . This is a pretty big deal, because it means there's now a way to view Docs, DocX files, PDFs and more on your iPhone, iPad or Android device without installing an app. A lot of people who didn't have a use for Google Docs before just found a reason to s...
The war of the webmail is raging on with the continued roll out of Microsoft’s new Hotmail service. Now Google is coming back with new features to it’s own GMail service, the first of which was quietly announced over the weekend. The company has added a one-click preview for the world’s most common file format, Microsoft Word documents. In a statement on the GMail blog they said… Clearly...
As part of my continued pursuit of the Lambda Lecture Series (my name for it) on Channel 9, I’ve summoned up a brain-storm worth of examples that show the symmetry and dualism of some functions and types. I’m not yet familiar with the higher-level abstract concepts of Arrows so arrow here simply means function.

A legújabb Office fájl formátumok mellett van még egy ser...
Microsoft’s decision to change the default file format in Office 2007 for some of its most popular Office programs has caused some confusion and controversy, especially shortly after introduction. Back then no one was able to open the docx , xlsx or pptx file formats if they would not have Microsoft Office installed. This changed quickly as Microsoft released the Office 2007 compatibility suite f...
Windows/Linux only: Firefox extension OpenXML Viewer opens Microsoft Word 2007 DOCX files directly in your Firefox browser. OpenXML Viewer is a fre...

It may be a sign that none of the core WordPress developers much likes or uses Microsoft Office, but the core code hasn’t been updated to recognize the Office 2007 file extensions like .docx , .pptx , or .xlsx . It’s no criticism, wouldn’t have discovered it if a user hadn’t complained, and I stewed a bit before deciding it was a bug.
It’s now ticket #8194 in the WordPress.org Trac. It only...
